A multi - disciplinary research, technical assistance, and training organization addressing environment - related technological issues. Areas of focus include waste disposal, treatment, and utilization; waste site characterization and monitoring; soil remediation technologies; contaminant containment, leachability, and migration modeling; non - point source pollution control; air pollution modeling and analysis; spatio - temporal analysis (including GIS); and environmental policy and impact analysis. Has nine associated laboratories and is frequently recruited by state, national, and international agencies to conduct studies or host colloquia on emerging environmental issues.
